Study of the sweet chili pepper (Capsicum chinense) production system in the Caribbean region of Colombia: a technological and socio-economic perspective

The objective of this work was to characterize technologically and economically the sweet chili pepper production system in Caribbean region Colombia. A survey applied 60 farmers using simple random sampling technique. economic returns were analyzed producing areas San Juan del Cesar, department La Guajira, Ponedera, Atlántico, with an average 0.6 hectares used for planting pepper. age is 51 years old, more than 11 experience crop. results present differences terms efficiency; example, it found that higher town which explained because yields are by 7 t/ha- 1. In zone, net income a difference COP 6.399.270 ha-1, concerning Ponedera. It concluded productive chain not well integrated since margins commercialization, general, 0.69, reveals farmer one who least participates surplus generated market.
